Tennessee State will take the field this Saturday in the John Merritt Classic against Lane College, but as it currently stands, however whether Draylen Ellis will be under center is still undetermined. The Austin Peay transfer was injured in the second quarter of TSU’s forgettable 49-6 evening against MTSU when he suffered a high ankle sprain.
Speaking to the media Tuesday head coach Eddie George said that Ellis’ status for Saturday is ”questionable.”
Coach George also said that Ellis has not taken any reps in Tuesday’s practice and he would not in Wednesday’s either.
He’s currently out of the boot, which is a good sign, so its now a matter of getting him back to practice and seeing where he is on the field
Coach George added that Ellis would be a “gametime decision.”
If he cannot go, Auburn transfer Chayhil Garnett, who spelled Ellis after he went down in the MTSU game, will helm the Tiger offense. Garnett completed 6 of his 10 pass attempts for 53 yards, ine touchdown and one interception.
